Developed in the late ’70s, the Classic Lead guitar speaker uses a fibreglass voice coil former to deliver an 80W power rating and a unique dynamic sound.A firm favourite with lead guitarists, the Classic Lead features a tightly controlled low-end, with strong high bass / low mid punch, aggressive mid range attack and a powerful yet controlled top-end.For power chords it has the tone to make its presence felt but the subtle high-frequency roll- off makes it ideal for solos, able to project single notes on loud stages without becoming shrill.

This Speaker

This returned, opened box guitar speaker differs from the stock photo in the following ways: Cosmetic or minor issues with the manufacturer’s (OEM) box should not effect the function of the speaker. Box is clean with only one sticker that does not cover OEM UPC sticker.  Speaker shows some cosmetic signs of installation.

Open Box

Our opened boxes have passed our 11-point inspection which means they do NOT have the following when we ship them out:

  • bent/warped rim or basket
  • wrinkled/warped/creased cone
  • coil-rub
  • non-standard incursion and excursion under electrical load

Really made in UK?

The following should address such questions/concerns:

  • It says “Made in UK” on the sticker on the unopened manufacturer box that it ships in (see photo).
  • There is a thick manufacturer’s sticker that says “Made in UK” on the side of the speaker’s back cover. 
  • In the photo you can zoom in and see that the large circular sticker on the back of the magnet cover reads “Celestion International”.  This does not indicate that it is not made in UK, even if it once did.
